Scottish Liberal Democrats and Deputy Leader of Scottish Borders Council

Following a successful career in hotel management and the tourism industry, Catriona was elected to Scottish Borders Council in 2003 representing Peebles East. In 2007 Catriona was re-elected for the larger ward of Tweeddale West, and appointed as the Executive Member for Education, where she was responsible for a budget of over £90million and introduced radical reforms in schools and central education services to reduce management tiers in order to protect school budgets.

Following the 2012 Council elections Catriona was appointed as the Council’s representative on the board of NHS Borders, and is also Deputy Leader of the Council. She has a keen interest in Public Health issues and in achieving even closer working between Scottish Borders Council and NHS Borders, particularly with regard to the integration of Health and Social Care.
