SNP Local Government Convener and Leader of Glasgow City Council SNP Group

Susan Aitken was elected as Leader of the Opposition in Glasgow City Council in March 2014, having previously served as the SNP Group’s social care spokesperson.

Originally from Biggar, Susan moved to Glasgow in 1989 to study English and Scottish Literature at Glasgow University and remained in the city.

Prior to her election as a councillor in 2012, Susan spent much of her career working in Scotland’s third sector, with a particular focus on health and social care policy.
