As a Commission, our job was to look at ways of delivering a fairer system of local taxation in Scotland.  We put evidence at the heart of our work, and wanted to listen to as many views as possible.

We started that activity  by asking for your views about what happens now, and what the future might be.  There were two ways to tell us what you think and you could complete both, or choose the one that suited you best.  You can find out what people told us on our Submissions page.
We’ve also been using the information that we have received to explore new ideas and help start the debate.  We wanted to have an ongoing conversation, and that’s why we set up different ways of meeting us or telling us what you think.  You can find out more about our programme of events here.

PARTICIPATE IN A LISTENING EVENT:
We developed a series of conversations in different parts of Scotland and with a range of networks about what might –and might not – be a fairer way of reforming local taxation in Scotland.
Each event was designed to be interactive, and attended by members of the Commission to hear views first hand.

WATCH OUR ORAL EVIDENCE SESSIONS:
We’ve held a series of evidence panel sessions to focus on local taxation at the moment, and what might be achieved in the future.    These panel sessions involved commission members and people or organisations coming together at ‘round table’ events to discuss the issues and share knowledge and perspectives.  All of our sessions were broadcast live and are available to view on demand

Take our Survey
OUR SHORT ONLINE SURVEY:
Even if you could only spare a few minutes, you could still share your thoughts using our short online questionnaire. This was designed to be an easy way of providing your opinion on some key questions. All responses were anonymous, and took less than 5 minutes to complete.
This survey closed on 25 September and the independent analysis of the results can be found here.
